Penny Lane Reggae Collection Reggae is a music unique to Jamaica, its forefather is Ska which is a more uptempo style and was quite popular in the early sixties. However, during one very hot summer, it was too hot to either play or dance to ska, so the beat was slowed down and reggae was born. Since that time Reggae has crossed into the mainstream, not only with the huge amount of CDs available by your more traditional artists but with artists like UB40, Eddy Grant, Shaggy, Shabba Ranks etc and with the popularity of the Festivals like 'Reggae Sunsplash' and 'One Love'.
Our selection of Reggae covers all of these progressions, we have a large selection of individual artists as well as some of the best compilations around from labels like Trojan, Nigeria Afro Sounds, Evolution Of Dub and Greensleeves, check them out!
