The early 1990's saw artists like MC Hammer take Rap to mainstream success while the rivalry between East Coast/West Coast hip hop rap elevated artists such as Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg, Wu-Tang Clan, Tupac Shakur, Notorious B.I.G, Nas, Mobb Deep, Mos Def and Cypress hill, while developing out of the Midwest came artists such as Bone Thugs-n-Harmony and Eminem.
