Penny Lane Country Collection

Country music is a blend of traditional and popular musical forms traditionally found in the Southern United States, Appalachians and Atlantic areas of Eastern Canada

As the genre evolved from the early 1920's, the music split into a number of different styles including: Hillbilly Boogie, Bluegrass, Folk and Gospel, Honky Tonk, Rockabilly, The Nashville and Countrypolitan sounds, Country soul, The Bakersfield sound, Country rock, Outlaw country, Country pop,  Neocountry, Truck driving country, Neotraditionalist movement,  Alternative country - many of which formed the roots of popular music and rock around the world.

Throughout its emergence into multiple sub-genres, country music has produced two of the top selling solo artists of all time. Elvis Presley who was known early on as “the Hillbilly Cat” and was a regular on the radio program Louisiana Hayride, went on to become a defining figure in the emergence of rock and roll while contemporary musician Garth Brooks with 128 million albums sold, is the top-domestic-selling solo U.S. artist in U.S. history.

Penny Lane has an extensive collection of country albums representing artists across many of these genres  including Steve Earle, Lucinda Williams, Townes Van Zandt, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Hank Wiliams, Ry Cooder, Tammy Wynette, Patsy Cline and many more.
